Procurement and Inventory Control Specialist

Under the direction of and reporting to the President of Wisconsin Plastic Products, primary duties are to support the development and implementation of sourcing strategies related to new product developments and ongoing supplier relationships.

Job Requirements

Complimentary Skill Sets

Excellent understanding of the procurement process as it relates to ERP.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Experience in preparing cost estimates.

Knowledge of material planning and procurement fundamentals.

Understand and comply with company policies and procedures, regulatory requirements, and safety regulations.

Strong mathematical and mechanical aptitude.

    Required Education and Experience

    Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain or Operations Management, or related field preferred; minimum of 3 years experience in material planning and procurement in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Minimum of 3 years ERP or similar program experience managing inventory within ERP.

    Good understanding of Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.

    Proven experience implementing supply chain management tools and processes.


      Essential Duties and Responsibilities

      1. Create purchase orders for all raw materials required for production.
      2. Follow-up on raw material deliveries and communicate delays to General Manager.
      3. Negotiate pricing and terms with new and existing vendors.
      4. Vet new suppliers and materials.
      5. Grow strong working relationships with vendors.
      6. Maintain current SDS records for all raw materials.
      7. Manage optimal material inventory levels to meet customer demand while achieving company inventory targets with minimal shortages.
      8. Mitigate vendor price increases.
      9. Promote 1st-in-1st out culture.
      10. Coordinate efforts to keep all purchased materials organized and accessible.
      11. Generate supplier corrective action requests as necessary.
      12. Coordinate the return of defective raw materials.
      13. Generate and maintain accurate procurement records and documentation to facilitate future purchasing decisions and customer record retention needs.
      14. Implement finished good price adjustments to correlate with fluctuating raw material prices.
      15. Maintain a professional working relationship and effectively communicates with all employees, managers, vendors, customers and regulatory agencies
      16. Performs other duties as assigned.

      Work Environment

      This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. Regular visits to the manufacturing floor are required.
