Human Resources Manager

The Human Resources Manager is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the Human Resource function. Responsibilities will include oversight of recruitment and hiring practices, employee relations and retention, benefits administration, performance management, policy development, safety, and ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws pertaining to personnel matters.

Pay: Salary to commensurate with experience

Reports to: Financial Controller

EXPERIENCE

  • A bachelor's degree and five years of Human Resources or equivalent experience
  • Expert knowledge of local, state and federal employment laws and procedures
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Interpersonal skills; ability to effectively build relationships and adapt business practices to multiple cultures, ethnic and social environments
  • Self-motivated and results driven with a high degree of ownership and accountability
  • Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple work assignments simultaneously
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position, working weekdays. An occasional start time to accommodate contact with employees working third shift (11pm – 7am) is required.

Requirements of the job:

  • Develop, administer and implement various plan and procedures including: personnel policies; prepares and maintains handbook on policies and procedures; performs benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, and annual re-evaluation of policies for cost-effectiveness
  • Administer and direct the benefits administration, assuring compliance and working with benefit vendors on establishing renewals
  • Oversee the employee enrollment process in applicable benefit plans, process monthly billings, audit files and enrollment to ensure coverage is correct
  • Administer the 401k plan, working with the plans advisor, TPA and administrator
  • Manage the Workers Compensation process, return to work program and maintain the OSHA log
  • Knowledge and practice of FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, OSHA, COBRA, Title VII & ERISA
  • Oversee unemployment compliance as well as safety and Worker’s Compensation claims
  • Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt, nonexempt and temporary workers; works with supervisors to screen and interview candidates; reference checking; extends job offers; conducts new-employee orientations and manages the termination process
  • Evaluate turnover trends and make recommendations for improvement to drive overall retention
  • Oversees the annual performance review cycle and executes the annual performance review process for team leaders and manufacturing areas
  • Participates in health and safety of the workforce; lead the Safety Committee
  • Training and development; work closely with supervisors to assure proper training is completed and employee training paths are maintained
  • Actively manage and coach the Training/Safety Coordinator and HR Recruiter, inspiring and encouraging high performance and continued development
  • Lead or participate in projects on behalf of the leadership team and other managers
  • Establishes and maintains department personnel records and reports
